Through a contract with the Allegheny County Department of Human Services and Office of Medical Assistance Transportation, Travelers Aid can provide roundtrip transportation to eligible consumers to attend billable services to medical assistance.
Who is eligible
The Travelers Aid MATP program assists Allegheny County residents who receive medical assistance insurance to billable medical services. Consumers must be deemed eligible by Travelers Aid and MATP, must reside in Allegheny County and must verify all services to receive assistance.
How to enroll
Potential enrollees can apply onsite at a participating network location (please call (412)281-5474 for an updated site list). If the consumer does not attend a network location, they may apply for the Safety Net mail program by contacting the Travelers Aid main office at (412)281-5474. Applicants must complete the Medical Assistance Transportation Program Application and Cover Letter and submit for processing within 30 days of signature. Application processing takes approximately 5-7 business days.
Duration and type of assistance offered
Assistance is provided only to services that are billed to Medical Assistance, including trips to the doctor, dentist, eye appointments, therapy trips, emergency room appointments and methadone maintenance. Consumers may receive assistance if their MA insurance is active and they reside in Allegheny County. Failure to provide proof of services could result in a delay or denial of assistance.
